We want this blog to be accessible to all; if there is a term or concept that you don’t understand, please leave a comment and we will explain. Every word that is underlined will have a brief explanation at the end of the article. Check out Movement 101 for in depth definitions of all terms.

Every year in late May, Habonim Dror North America (HDNA) hosts the annual Ma’apilimot Seminar. (Ma’apilimot are the members of HDNA who are Workshop age and older.)

Just weeks before camps start, all post-workshop aged (including SHANA) movement members are invited to come to Ma’apilimot Seminar to discuss central movement questions. It is an opportunity for members from across North America, and from different age groups, to go through an educational process together and share their experiences and insights. Topics have included what it means to be a youth movement, how to empower youth as leaders, how to approach our Jewish and Labor Zionist education responsibly and how to deepen our ability to be leaders in our communities.

For the seminar this year, we created a video to better show our lives to the North American movement. We wanted transparency into what life is like for someone who makes Aliyah from the North American movement to the Dror Yisrael Movement here in Israel. We hope this video is a snapshot into our lives on a day-to-day basis. We hope to release more videos like it soon.

  1. Yasher Koach! I have lots of friends who’ve made aliyah..families and older singles through Nefesh b’Nefesh, young men and women who’ve done it through Garin Tzabar. Always fascinated to hear different perspectives on the whys of making aliyah as well as the experiences olim are having going through the process.
Good luck to all of you…hope it continues to be a meaningful and successful experience!
